I need help here. I’m arriving at Pearson airport on my way to Saskatchewan for my job. I’ll be issued a work permit at Pearson then 6 hours of transit before the connection flight. Am I authorized to leave the airport during that time? Or I have to stay at the airport until the final destination of the work permit?

Another question; if I can’t leave the airport, can I meet my family inside the airport or I’ll be checked in inside the secure area?

Thanks.

You can meet your relatives if time permits. Once you have finished your immigration formalities you can meet your family . Just make sure you are in time to make your connection.

Sure you can leave the airport or just airside once you have cleared immigration and customs. Assuming you have a through ticket after customs you will need to recheck any luggage at a connections desk before you exit the airside area.

Also you will need to ensure that you have a boarding pass for the connection as you will need that plus Id to pass back through security. Having your family come airside to meet you is not an option as they are not travelling. Even with a 6 hour connection would not recommend leaving the airport itself.

Thank you. So this means once I get the work permit and transfer the luggage (at Pearson they don’t transfer automatically to the next flight), I can step outside the passenger area to meet them, then go through security again to check in for the connecting flight? I do have the boarding passes and the tickets.
