Hello,

I have just started filling the documents for Canadian citizenship. As per CIC, the processing time is 1 year..My PR will expire in Feb 2018.

If I have to leave Canada next year for few months, can I go without renewing my PR and enter the country again within a month as my citizenship application will still be in progress?

Please let me know...

You can leave if you apply after October 11, 2017. However, make sure of the validity of your PR-card for a smooth re-entry.
Thanks,

You need a PR card or Canadian passport to board a commercial transport method, to enter Canada.

Also do keep in mind you have to be in Canada for test/interview, oath etc. You are asked to update your travel outside as well in the interview.

1. Renew your PR to garantie your return
2. Contact the Immigration, and tell them about your trip
3. Buy your tickets, and enjoy your trip.

Yes, i applied under the old ruke and i left for two weeks the following date after application. no issue

This is technically fine, however if they contact you by mail and you miss an interview/test date it could certainly cause an issue. I'm not sure I would leave for more than a week or two at a time, just to be safe. Not exactly sure how you would handle that situation.

How do they communicate things like the test invitation and oath invitation? Letter mail or email?

E-Case update and hard copy of the letter at the address inside Canada (provided by you).
