Hi All,

I have landed one month back in Canada and yet to receive my PR card. I have the following questions:
1. How long does it take to receive the card? Is there any way to track the status?
2. Can I leave Canada and go to USA without the physical card? Will I be able to enter Canada with any other temporary visa or anything?

Really appreciate quick reply as I am need to go to USA next month.

Regards,
AP

>1. How long does it take to receive the card? Is there any way to track the status?
First PR card is approx ~2 months from landing. Only estimates by IRCC, not commitments

>2. Can I leave Canada and go to USA without the physical card?
Absolutely yes (of course you have to have docs allowing you to enter in the USA, e.g. US visa).

>Will I be able to enter Canada with any other temporary visa or anything?
No issue here, just your signed CoPR is enough for CBSA to let you in. The issue is that if you travel by commercial carriers, e.g. airline, they may deny you boarding. If you travel with your own car then no issues at all.

Hello, where can I confirm this information? I intend to go to the USA before getting my card, whar should I bring with me?

I've googled thousands of websites lol It is just the CIC is not 100% clear.
I have a valid American tourist visa.

Well, for everything that I read, coming back to the US by car i just need my passport and the CoPR.

Thanks for your help :)

Correct.

This is because the CBSA agents can easily look you up on their systems at the land border. Airlines do not have any such access and are obliged to insist that a PR must show them either a valid PR card or a PRTD before they can board.
