Hello guys, CIC just emailed me requesting me to submit my passport for the visa! The wait is over, thank God! :) I have one question though, I'm going to the US next month for work, can I travel to Canada from there and wait a few weeks for the PR before heading back to my country to sort things out before actually moving to Canada for good? Is it allowed? Thanks!

hey, congrats and good luck for the rest of the journey.

yes, thats possible. When you land, you have to fill out a PR card application, you can ask them to mail the PR card to a canadian address ... usually takes about 45-60 days. Once your friend/family member receives the PR card, he/she can mail it to you...

just remember - once you enter canada on PR visa, you cannot re-enter canada on that same visa... you will need the PR card then to re enter or exit canada as many times as you need

cheers

Thank you so much! I'm wondering if it's safe to mail the PR card oversea? I mean it's a really important document...

We are planning on doing the same thing with our PR card.

I certainly will NOT trust the 'normal' post with it. We will be using a courier company (e.g. DHL, UPS, FEDEX etc.). I will leave my Canadian buddy enough money to pay for their express track and trace service.

well thats a bit of a grey area... thing is some courier companies dont even accept important documents like passport and PR cards in post...

in this case you can ask someone who is staying in canada to send it by hand through someone you trust... this is what i'm planning to do myself if and when i get the PR card :)§

I think now that I know I'll get my PR card delivered through a trusted courier service. I guess my next question is will I breach the conditional PR if I come back to my country to take care of things before leaving for good? Which might take up to 6 months due to the sale of properties and finishing my current work contract.

I don't think it's a problem as long as you're inside Canada for required amount of time during a 5 year period.
