I received an e-mail from my visa office requesting me to fill a form providing all my personal history and addresses from 2001 to date. I remember to have filled this form before when applying for permanent residence. I did filled the form and sent to them by e-mail as requested. My question, can someone tell me the reason why they need these information any one hard similar experience and what will happened next after they receive this file.
thanks

There may have been a small gap in the history. They don't want there to be any gaps no matter how small.

I remember when I submitted the forms I was advised to detail my personal history going back to 18 even though on the form it states only the previous 10 years. I dont know why CIC just change the from and state they want your history from 18+.

They quite apparently don't require it from everyone. For the benefit of those from whom they don't, I'm happy to see them leave the form alone.

very true. i only put my 10 year history and never received a request for info since 18. i think it depends on the specific application, visa office and the specific officer handling the file.

yes seems very inconsistent. My wife just put down the last 10 years for her employment and address history and was then asked later for all info since age 18. She was also US citizen via US outland processed in Ottawa. Must be the case officer.

so strange. i often wonder if my visa officer actually read my application. they can't go back and review my application after approval, right? lol

may i ask how old your wife was at time of application? I was mid-thirties... perhaps age has something to do with it?

Its just another inconsistency though...why state on the form 10 years then ask people for further info, it happened a lot around the time we submitted and few months previously although I've not seen many lately. If there is a specific reason for certain visa offices I feel they should put it in the country specific guide that it needs to be from 18, less work for them, less delays for applicants. Just another CIC enigma.

I sponsored her last January so that'd make her 36 at the time.

I think it really depends on the officer and application as you said. Like some people get PPR, some don't.

I think it has to do with age. I have read a few threads of folks around your wife's age that we were requested to do the same thing. Personally, I think the application as it's written is sufficient for any age. However, they never asked me ;D :p

My wife is 37, so we may have to do this as well, which is a pain, because of the number of short term jobs/addressess worked in Indonesia. To be ready in case of this request, I'm still going to have her start collecting the info now, so we can submit the reply right away (and to chase down any missing info, should that crop up).

***sigh***

maybe not. as said earlier, i was mid thirties (35), submitted a 10 year history, and was never asked for anthing since 18. i think it's based on the interpretation of the visa officer and the habits of the visa office, which makes it difficult to predict. there is no consistency to it. at all.

I'd say this is exactly it. Because the wording in the application is slightly confusing (if I remember it right) but basically it does say the last 10 years is fine if you have more than 10 years of history past age 18 (i.e. you are over 28). But an officer can misread what it is asking for and be on the safe side and ask for more. My wife was going to argue with the officer when I got the e-mail but then we decided it is simply better to that my wife apologize for screwing it up (though she didn't) and give the requested info. No sense in pissing off the person responsible for approving your application! Since it didn't delay the application at all, it was fine.

Thanks guys for sharing your experiences here, most of what you said is true, i am in my early 30s and my visa office is Manila philippines, most people in my thread got PPR since some got their visa already some are still waiting. i did not get a PPR yet like someone said every case is different and it also depends on the visa officer handling the file.
