Hi Can I go in Dec end to Canada?? MY visa was issued on 11th Sept for Pre-Masters leading to Master program but I could not join Pre-Master semester starting 4th September due to visa delays. Now it has to be started in Jan 2014 as per LOA of university. Moreover I talked to university and they have waived my Pre-Master for direct entry to Masters starting in May 2014. Now since I have my visa issued based on the Pre-Master leading to master and also university is sending me LOA for direct entry to Master in May 2014. SO Please guide/suggest me which LOA to show at POE ?? and If I show new LOA for May 2014 can I enter Canada in Dec 2013 still? Please advise SENIORS URGENT*****

You will be asked why you want to come here six months before your classes start? Would you have enough funds to support yourself? What are you planning to do until classes start?

going 1 month before the classes actually starts will also be questioned ?

sometimes, u just explain to them u want to get to know the place, get all the stuff sorted out before joining the college, etc..

yes.. just prepare your replied beforehand..
it should be fine..

Ur strong points should be:

Proof of enough funds to sustain your stay.
A proper plan of action till your course starts - as in setting up accommodation, fixing conveyance routes and modes, setting up food arrangements, meeting professors, knowing the locality, doing a short term vocation course (hobby based), etc.

I Got my Visa on 19 Sep like You and will be leaving in First Week of December, I Sent an Email to Embassy about Going in December they told me that You just need to have Updated Proof of Funds and Update Letter of Acceptance.

Entering to Canada before 1 month of Starting Classes is Very Common you Just need to Tell them You want to Be relaxed before your Classes Starts.

If you are entering Canada a month before classes start - you'll be fine.

If you are entering Canada 4-5 months before classes start - be prepared that you might be refused entry. CIC may believe you're coming early to work illegally and tell you to return closer to the start of your classes.

Yes that is a valid excuse 1 month before but any more than that---as syclla pointed out they will be very suspicious that you are just going to work illlegally

That is a best case scenario

When I came here as an international student in 2009, I heard stories from students about a guy who tried to come in April for Sep start date and the officer cancelled his visa saying he did not believe that the guy was going to be a legitimate student

coming 4 to 5 months ahead of your start date is not at all a good idea. A month or two is okay. If you are coming a month ahead of your start date, then u needn't even worry about showing more funds, if you are coming 2 months ahead of schedule, better to show some funds to prove you can sustain the living cost.

But 4 to 5 months, a BIG NO. Rest, it's your decision, your choice.

Wish you luck!

I Arrived in Canada in June, I had my explanation ready, several thousand Canadian Dollars in the Bank and a few thousand in my pocket. The Border Services Agent only wanted to see my acceptance letter, she told me to go have a seat and a few short minutes later I had my study permit.
