I'm not sure you understood my reply or not, It is clearly said "So a residential is better to given".
It is because if you don't provide residential address but hotel address, you will not be treat as "landing".

I never said you cannot go back to home country after land shortly, just provide a residential address.
Not being able to provide a residential address does not mean that you haven't "landed". You have landed, and you no longer have to worry about the expiration of your medicals.
It just means that you cannot get your PR card. You can leave Canada and return without a PR card, but it is more complicated.

Yes exactly correct.
Sorry I didn't express clearly. What I was trying to reply is, if hotel address is provided, he/she will not able to get PR card as it may considered as "temp landing".
Thank you.

See I am not the only one who misunderstood you.

Whats "Temp Landing" ?

There is no such thing as Temp Landing. Landing is only one which is "Landing". This makes everyone confused.

They're talking about what people on this forum call a "soft landing"; landing for the sole purpose of activating your PR, then leaving.

See someone understood, so it's not everyone confused.
But I admit sometimes I expressed not well. But no need to so aggressively criticize my reply and even myself.

The thing is "Soft Landing" or "Temporary Landing" are slang words used here on the forum to describe a situation where the PA/dependents "land" in Canada "activate the Permanent Residence" and then go back to their home country to be done with their commitments like sale of a house etc,. According to IRCC, there is no such thing as "soft landing" - this term was introduced by the members of the forum. You will not find this in IRCC manuals. When you land and the officer says "Welcome to Canada :) ", you are officially a permanent resident and you are eligible to receive a PR card.

Having said that, you can either provide an address at the time of landing OR you can provide IRCC an address within 180 days of landing. If you do not do either of the aforementioned things, you will have to fill in a new application to receive a PR card.

If you are planning to live at the same hotel for 45 - 60 days, then you can give the hotel address and if the officer asks why you are providing a hotel address, you can tell him that you plan to stay at the same hotel for XX days. However, if you are NOT planning to stay in the same hotel for at least 50 days, I suggest you NOT to give that address. Instead, you can give the address of a trusted friend/relative. If you don't know anybody in Canada, then do NOT give an address at the time of landing and tell the officer that you will update the address within the stipulated 180 days. When you rent a place to live, you can update your address online and your PR card will be sent to that address.

Good luck and all the very best!

Hi Raj,

For PN people, is it necessary to provide an address of the same province or I can provide any address.

Logically, the address should be in the province that issued the nomination. One of my friends (PEI Nominee), however, did his landing in Ontario and he gave an Ontario address for PR card. He has received his PR card as well. So, I guess it is okay but I am not very sure if this will work well for everybody.

May be PNs who have already landed can assist you better!

Good luck!

That's a nice clear info. Only thing is.. I am reading on this forum is that people are not being able to update their address online within 180 days after landing, e-mailing them also doesn't work.

I'm not sure about that but I suggest applicants to use this link -

https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/?app=coanotify&lang=en&_ga=1.147758515.569838889.1463739970

They can use their COPR number as the identification type.

This is one of the posts I read regarding the same link:
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/how-to-update-review-address-for-pr-card-t449591.0.html

I read a similar experience of another user too but cannot find that post at the moment.
I am getting a bit apprehensive about the 180 days thing now.
