Can I get the biometrics before receiving instructions?

Hi all,
I am asking this for my wife, whose passport will be sent to consulate for renewal next week. But I am afraid that the biometrics request may come anytime. From what I read so far, without a passport one can not get the biometrics.

Can we get the biometrics before hand? Thank you for your help!

No, you can’t. In order to do the biometrics you will need the biometrics collection letter.
