Can I get a re-entry option when extending my visitor visa?

I have been in Canada since August 2016 and have been on extended visitor visa's. (I have paid the fees to apply for spousal sponsorship for permanent residency but have been too sick to complete the actual forms. I am married to a Canadian.) However, it has been almost 3 years since I have seen any friends or family and I keep getting sicker (the climate here affects me drastically), so I want to travel to see friends and travel back home to see family. Because I am from South Africa, I need a temporary resident permit with a re-entry option to apply for the visa's to visit friends. Now I am just wondering if this is even possible? I am about to submit my application to extend my visitor visa again for a year, while I can hopefully complete the PR forms, but I want to ask them for the option for re-entry, however, I don't want to risk asking that if it will mean they will decline issuing me a new extended visa/visitor record. Does anyone have any experience in this?

No, you cannot get a reentry option on a status extension. You need a new visa if you wish reentry. You will likely be refused an extension sooner than later if you have not actually completed the forms - I'm surprised you've been extended for so long.

If the climate has affected you this much to not be able to fill the forms for three years, you need to hire someone to do it for you.

Thank you. I will have to reconsider my options.

I have gotten the extensions I believe because I have explained my situation and have provided notes from my physicians confirming my disabilities and how it has impacted me.

I have attempted to hire an immigration lawyer but the few I contacted wouldn’t even grant me a meeting to discuss the process. Unfortunately when you live with so much illness, you barely have energy to shower. I have completed much of the paperwork many times and then had delays in awaiting documents from home, and by the time it arrives, the process and paperwork has changed. It’s quite a complex situation.

If I didn’t love my husband, I wouldn’t stay in Canada, however, this is why I was hoping to visit family and friends so that I can see them and get a break from the climate that affects me so severely.

If you have already been living in Canada as a visitor for 3 years assume you have a plan B should your next extension be refused and you are asked to leave Canada ? Obviously the climate situation in Canada is never going to change and if anything climate change will affect everyone in future years but your plan B maybe to move back to South Africa for a while where hopefully you can have easy access to the documents you need and have your husband submit your PR spouse application outland. Means being apart for sometime but as said at some point visitor extensions will fail given having a Canadian spouse is no guarantee of anything as a visitor.

What province do you live in? Most provinces would not allow you to access medical care without paying as a visitor. Why isn’t your husband filling out the forms? Unfortunately you will be denied an extension at a certain point.

Eventually they’ll tell you it’s refused . Extensions only go on for so long , and for a reason ,In your case to send in your paperwork for spousal sponsorship
Technically you’re still a visitor in the eyes of the Government, eventually visitors are told to go home.
And seconding the above question ,Why isn’t your husband pitching in helping you fill in the forms ? Or hire a immigration consultant if he can’t bother
