Can I flagpole to extend my PGWP without a valid TRV??

Hello,

I have been hijacking other threads to resolve my question therefore I decided to start one for myself and hopefully help others in the process as well.

My PGWP is set to expire on Feb 20 2016. I am eligible to extend it because I did not get full duration of PGWP due to the validity of my passport. I now have a valid passport and a valid PGWP.

I have already applied online on Dec 20th 2015 but it is taking a long time to process the applications and they are still working on Sept applications. I have already spent $255 but dont mind spending again just to get this hassle out of the way.

Hence, I am planning to flagpole to expedite the process. I live in Vancouver so I am planning to go to the nearest CAN/US border.

I have a few questions which I am hoping the experts can put my mind at peace:

1- What are the documents that I require? Valid Passport, Valid PGWP, Proof of funds suffice?
2- Do I require a valid TRV to flagpole? Mine just expired 2 weeks ago. Do I need a valid TRV to flagpole?

3- Can I flagpole during the weekend? i.e Saturday or Sunday?

Any other information regarding this will be quite appreciated. Please advice. Thanks alot! I really appreciate all the hard work put in this forum.
 
You can flagpole anytime and any.
you must need a valid US visa to do a flagpole and valid Canadian visa.
If you applying PGWP first time, CBSA just need Transcript, certificate and valid study permit.
Not sure that you can flagpole for extension.
please make sure with cic and certified consultant before taking any step.

The POE are open 24x7 all week long. I researched and couldn't find a valid answer. Some people were able to do it with expired TRV and no US visa, but not sure about it. I'm in same stuation. I want to apply for PGWP and my TRV is expired, no US visa and no job offer. Will I get the PGWP if I flagpole? Is there any way you can apply for PGWP at POE without leaving Canada?

From what I hear- you can flagpole without a US Visa or a Canadian TRV. You just need a valid permit to be in Canada- Study/Work Permit.

Yes, but it would have been nice if someone posted rules regarding flagpoling without a US Visa and Canadian TRV, like rules and law on government website regarding this. What about no job offer or LMO, would they give me work permit?

Technically you're not entering US so a US Visa could be not necessary.

I never did it but as far I know you'll explain your plan to US border offices and then will provide a Entering Administrative Refusal (or something like that). I don't know which consequences have, if any, for future US travels.

Will be better if you could just ask for Entry request withdrawn.


Anyways to enter Canada you need to meet complete conditions: passport, multiple/single entry valid visa if your country need it, WP or documents to apply for.


I don't know about PGWP, looks like some people could get the extension but I can't say.

If you finally do it better have originals of any document you did use to apply PGWP online, including institution letters, transcripts, current WP....

You have some of it right. You can extend your PGWP depending on your case. In mine- it has a comment that I can extend it if I validate my passport. But extension will be based on the duration your study so I believe I will only get it for one more year.

As for TRV- if you are doing flagpolling and have a study/work permit, you would be permitted to do so.

Either way- I will know more about it soon. Hopefully, all goes well.
 
Yes you can Flagpole to Extend your PGWP
You do not need a TRV to flagpole, because your PGWP is still valid

Take as many documents with you

Complete application with all attached documents
PNP or LMIA certificate if you have one
Job offer letter if you have one
You Education completion document

They might not even ask for the application, But its good to have it, just in case if the ask it
 
I am also planning to flagpool. i have a valid trv till march 12 2016 . any other guys flagpooling ?

can we flag pole if we refused to have pgwp extension, if trv and pgwp both has expired from last 6 months ??

I am planning to flagpole co-op work permit (I don't know how much of a difference will that be)...

I hope the below information helps anyone who has to flagpole for PGWP or PGWP Extension.

1- You do not need a valid TRV to do flagpoling.
2- You might however need a valid status in Canada, i.e Study Permit or PGWP.
3- You can do flagpoling during the weekends. I did mine on a Saturday evening.
4- For PGWP Extension- You might run into a scenario where the Border Service Agent will say that they cannot do extension. My Border Service Agent told me that only new PGWP is done by flagpoling. The Extension is done through Online or Paper Application. I managed to convince him that I am running out of time waiting for the decision as I have submitted an Online Application 3 months ago and still have not received any information and the fact that my PGWP is set to expire in a week. After 30 minutes or so of waiting- I got my PGWP Extension. It is a new document with the remaining eligible period of PGWP. Mine is for a year because my original PGWP was set for 2 years. After paying the fees of $255 or something, I was set.
