Can I find jobs on 'visitor' visa?

I am an Indian citizen. I have a multiple entry 'Business Visitor' visa for Canada valid till 2013. I am planning to visit Canada this year. Can I go there on this visa and then look for jobs out there? Like attend some interviews and stuff that I can't do sitting here? Would it be any better looking for jobs there than sitting here and applying online (I'm currently employed in India)?
Any information and/or guidance would be helpful. Thanks a lot.

Hey
I am in the same boat with you. I have a multiple visa valid till 2015 and
I am currently in U.S. But I want to know if I can work or find a job in Canada
and then apply for PR.
But I think one can find a job and they will ask probably to live the country and apply
from outside once you have a job offer.
But I really dont know ..l am just thinking

Where are you actually from? I mean what's your country of citizenship?

You can look for a job.
You can attend interviews.
But you cannot work.

FWIW job ad's often specify that you must be "legally allowed to work".
That statement is obviously open to interpretation, the generally accepted meaning is, if you do not have permission to work (a permit) then don't bother applying.

Thanks for your reply. I know that I can't actually work in Canada without a work permit. But what I was thinking is that apply for some jobs, appear for the interview and then may be if I get selected, apply for the work permit? An employment proof would anyway be required for the work permit. I was just wondering if chances of getting a job would be more if I physically go there and apply versus applying from here. I may be wrong, just wanted others' opinions on this.

You may stand a better chance because you would be attending interviews.
But some companies will not be happy if you do not disclose your immigration status.

What field do you work in?

Thanks Shane99!. But what kind of jobs available?..I have chemistry degree from the U.S and an Exploraton degree from Europe.
Although I have applied for FSW back in 2007, I am still waiting for doc. request as l belong to the simplified old system, hoping that one day CHC would answer us.
But now I have a multiple which I thick I might utilize to seek for job while there visiting. What are my chances?

It's possible but quite difficult.

First you will have to find an employer who is willing to hire you. That employer will then have to submit a Labour Market Opinion for approval. As part of this process, the employer will have to prove that they advertized the role on Canadian job boards and were unable to find a Canadian to hire for the position. If the Labour Market Opinion is approved (not all of them are) - you must then apply for a work permit. If your work permit is approved, you can then start working. This entire process typically takes months to complete.
