Can I extend my visitor visa while waiting for (outland) permanent residence?

I married my girl in August and have been on an extended honeymoon in Toronto where she lives. We've applied for residency (from outside CA) and she's been approved to be my sponsor. I want to know how I can extend my visitor visa here, and whether it's risky. I don't want to throw a spanner in the works or jeopardize my application but on the other hand I really don't want to spend any more time apart. I'm allowed in Canada until the end of February so it's kind of time to decide to either go home until the application is complete, or see if I can stay, then fly home quickly to complete the application / interview. What do you reccomend?

It's unlikely you'll have to interview so go ahead and extend your visitor status and plan on staying until PR is approved and you have to land!

Well, is your visitor's visa a multiple entry or single entry?...If is multiple entry, you can just go back and spend 2-3wks and you can return back...but if it single entry, you might need to go out and re-apply, l am not so sure. But try and call the immigration and find out.
My Best advice for you is not to jeoprodise your already applied chances for PR. Is your girl a permanent residence or citizen? That will also help your case simply.
 
Apply for an extension and include (beyond what ever else is required) proof that you are married, that you have a PR app in process (copies of fee payment and sponsorship approval letter) and explain that you wish to remain with your spouse to wait out processing. Indicate that you understand if your extension is denied that you will return to your own country to wait out processing.

It costs $75 and it will not jeopardize your spousal PR application. I recommend applying by mail because the processing time is longer than for online apps and you will have what is called "implied status" in Canada while you wait for the decision which would extend your visit a few weeks even if you are denied. Just be sure to submit your app for the extension BEFORE you lose your current status.

What are the necessary proof to include in the application package
Lastly, has any done this before and what are the possible of getting approved

Read the application forms and documentation for the proof that is required, answer the questions.
If you are sending this by post, make sure you use a service that provides a signature on delivery.
Lots of people do this, nobody can tell you the chances of sucess, only the VO after processing your application.
