Can I enter Canada with approved TRV but not yet stamped in the passport?

Hi. I need to enter Canada to resume my school on September. I have a valid study permit but my TRV is expired. I have applied for a TRV online from outside Canada and I'm waiting for approval (expecting it to be soon). However, I still need to wait for at least 2 weeks to get the TRV stamped on my passport after it gets approved, which would make me late for school. I'm from a visa-required country and I have a US visa. I'm trying to find anyway that allow make me into Canada faster. My question is, can I travel to US and then enter Canada by land border after my TRV application is approved, without a stamped TRV?

I am going to vote "no", but maybe others know better. But, it seems to me that if you can enter Canada as a tourist on the strength of an email or whatever you get saying the visa is approved, then I am not sure why Canada would bother with the whole passport request process and affixing the visa to your passport. Why not just say all you have to do is to show up with a copy of the letter? Seems to me that having the actual visa in hand would be a sine qua non of gaining entry.

Thanks for your reply. Not that I believe an approval can be used as a visa in anyway, as without a visa I can't even board a flight to Canada. What I'm wishing for is that there might be some way to enter Canada if I can get to one of the port of entries, and apply for a temporary status or something.

But, if you show up at a land crossing and beg permission to enter on "temporary status or something", it seems you intend to rely on some evidence that a TRV has been approved, and that should open the door. I would think the TRV would count for nothing until it is actually in hand.

You will not be allowed to board a flight to Canada without TRV.

Even via US, you, being visa-required citizen, cannot enter Canada on basis of email since they are not considered valid travel documents.

Entry via US on permit is only allowed if you have visited any of the following countries : St. Pierre and Miquelon or the U.S.
