Hi,

My parents are here on a visitor visa. Their 6 months stay is about to get over. I am planning to take them to buffalo and return back the same day evening.

In that case would the 6 month counter be reset?

Thanks

Generally it's not a great idea to do this. CBSA tends to frown on this behaviour and it's possible they may have issues re-entering or only be granted a very short visit. If you want them to remain longer - best option is to apply for an extension from within Canada.

Hi,

I have relatives here & we did went to Buffalo in June 2019. Unfortunately CBSA did not stamped their passport again.
They said it is not considered as re-admission to the country, as we were not out for more than 24 hours.
I am not sure if that is the protocol they used to follow or may be changed recently.

So for them the duration was same as before.

Good Luck

Sounds logical which is why most people would just recommend use the extend stay as a visitor application given after all an applicant can stay pending a decision so not only could they get a fresh 6 months but also the extra months waiting.

Going to the border anything could happen and worst case could even be refused entry if CBSA think a visitor has intentions of living not visiting.
