Hello everyone,

Can anyone tell me how to study in Canada as a visitor??

All I know until now is that I have to apply to DLI University or college for a prerequisite Program for less than six months then I can apply for a study permit.
Is it correct?
Could you please give me suggestions? I should arrive in October.

Thanks.

Follow the instructions and it will tell you what to do. You need to show funds, ties to home country, justify costs with career and education advancement.

You’ll need to apply through a location out of Canada. Would stick to a public school. The program needs to be over 6 months to require a permit. You likely have a better chance of getting approved from your home country because it is much easier to prove that you have strong ties to your home country and will return after graduation.

I will apply from my country but I have a conference in Canada in October so I need to know how to get a study permit when I arrive.

You cannot convert it. You need to get admission & apply for a study permit. Then you wait for a response. You cannot just get a study permit when you arrive.

I know I have to apply but there's a way to get a study permit if I applied for a prerequisite program first for less than 6 months then I get an approval letter then I will apply for the study permit.

I'm looking for a way to get it, That's why I have posted here to ask about it to make sure it's working that way.
Or any other way if anyone is willing to help and share it with me.

Thanks for your reply anyway

Your title says convert (you are the one using the term), and there is no such thing. Not sure what information you are looking for. For a program less than 6 months, you do not need a study permit but you cannot work. Once you have completed the pre-requisite, you apply for a study permit for the full program. You apply for a study permit from within Canada and wait. You show that you have the funds, justify costs of the program with education and career advancement (higher salary/better job in home country), ties to home country etc. Make sure you have funds to live in Canada while you wait for a response.

When entering Canada, CBSA may want to see proof that you have the funds to live and study in Canada.

You also aren’t guaranteed to be able to stay for 6 months or more when you go to enter Canada to attend your conference. If you want to study in Canada it would be best to apply to attend a university or college program that is longer than 6 months and apply for a study permit from your home country. Studying in a course that is less than 6 months doesn’t guarantee that you will be able to secure a study permit to attend a longer course. You also can’t work during a course that is under 6 months so you would be spending a significant amount of money. Is there a reason you are insisting on trying to apply for a study permit while in Canada and not from your home country? It would likely take until the spring/summer or fall semester to hear whether you got admitted and received a study permit if you arrived in October which would mean a long period without being able to work.
