Can I become a P.Eng. before coming to Canada?

Hi Everyone,

I am writing a Settlement Plan for NS PNP and a question is asking whether I can become a P. Eng. before coming to Canada.

I made a 100 searches on internet but no info. I also called Engineers Nova Scotia, left message, Emailed them a week ago, but still no news :-[

This settlement plan itself is really a pain!

I would appreciate any information with source referral in this regard.

Thanks for your answer, but isn't it only for Alberta Engineers? Because I couldn't find anything on Nova Scotia? Do you happen to have a link for that?

You should have minimum 1 year Canadian experience for PEng. Also total 4 years experience required.

Yes I found that one year experience too. So this means I have to come to Canada, work for a year as an engineer and then apply for P.Eng right?

Now the question is, how can I find a job if I am not licensed to work as an engineer?

You can apply for PEng now, but you will get after your 1 year Canadian experience.

Simply, you can start all process before you arrive to Canada.
1. Send all needed documents. CV, certificate, transcript, syllabus .... etc
2. Finish IELTS academic with 7 score.
3. Pay assessment fee.

Then,
If your experience is more than 10 years, you may be exempted from exam. If not, you will be examined after your arrival.

After you arrival, you have to do some actions:
1. Work one year as Engineer-in-trainee.
2. Get three recommendation letter, at least two of them from licensed engineers.
3. Pass the exam if you are not exempted

After all of these steps, congratulation, you are P.ENG

I don't know. I think you should contact the registration association itself
