I'm about to start my application to sponsor my common-law partner to move to Canada but I'm afraid that I don't have/make enough money and I also have very poor credit.

I am working, but I don't make much. Can I be denied as a sponsor for this?

There are no minimum income requirements to sponsor. You cannot be collecting welfare and I believe there may be restrictions surrounding declaring bankruptcy.

You don't need to worry about the minimum wage part, you need to demonstrate how you will support the person
This is not only a plan for the application. This is also a plan for you and your spouse. Do you or him have savings? Will there be support from family member to provide free accommodation for you two in case you don't make enough to cover both of your expenses until he settles and get a job?
The bottom line is that you are responsible for him for 3 years after he becomes a PR. So neither you or him can get welfare in that period of time.
