Hi everyone, I will come to Canada with my daughter for undergraduate studying. I will get visitor visa. I am wondering can I apply for work permit if I only have visitor visa when I am in Canada? how can I apply for it? Thank you for your help in advance.

First you need to find an employer who is willing to offer you a job. The employer must then apply for and obtain an approved Labour Market Opinion. Before applying for the LMO, the employer will have to advertise the job for at least a month to prove that no Canadians could be found for the role. If the LMO is approved, you can then apply for a work permit. For the work permit to be approved, one of the things you will have to prove is that you have strong ties to your home country and have no plans on remaining in Canada long term. It may be quite difficult to prove this if you are already in Canada. Consequently it woiuld be better to apply for the work permit from your home country.
