Dear All
I would like to ask a question for making sure.
I am holding a work permit as Chef and my work permit will expire in October. Can I create EE profile for apply PR?
Can I claim 600 points from my current work permit?

Yes you can. Better to do it asap

you can only claim 600 points if your work permit is based on an LMIA or if it is from a PNP

thank you for replying.....any one has any comment?

Go ahead and create your profile soon. Since you can claim 600 points for the LMIA, you will most probably receive an Invitation to Apply in the very next draw.

You should remember that your LMIA should be valid through out your process. I saw one case in the same forum which was rejected because of the same reason

Hi All,

i have different question, i got work permit but No LIMA, do u think i can still get the 600 points, also my work permit still have 8 moths to expired.

thanks all.

I am so worry with the time. I have work permit only 3 months and will subhmit next week. How much percentage to risk rejection? So worry

Actually that depends on some cases. My co worker applied when he had only 1 month left on his work permit . got the ITA. And he applied asap. With only one week remaining for the work permit to expire . lucky guy got his PR within 2 months.

My advice is get everything ready to go. Specially with the police clearance. Bank statements and stuff. Medical can be done upfront with no document needed. As soon as u get your ITA send everything right away

thank you for all advise.. i do appreciate

LMO/LMIA needs to be only valid at the point you are nominated and you a are submitting your application. Your 600 points will be still considered if you work for the same employer at the point the decision is made and in case your employer (whose name is on LMO/LMIA and WP) offers you a full time permanent job.

Any advise or comments? ?

As the people above say, you just have to have the LMIA supported job at the time of application, i.e. when you send your full application after you've received an ITA.

As someone with 3 months left on your permit you're by no means an unusual case.

Important things to consider:

Make sure you follow everything to the letter. Include every document. Triple check everything you send. Ask advice if you're in any doubts about anything. Make sure your employer gives you all the documentation you need using exactly the words needed.

3 months seems like limited time but it's enough time to do what you need so don't rush like a crazy person, you've got this.

Again because this is SO important. You may only have one swing at this because if you get cancelled down the line, you may not have an LMIA job any more. TAKE YOUR TIME and make sure you send EVERYTHING YOU NEED. Make sure it's all clear.

And hey, get someone else to sanity check your application before you send it... trust me on this, I had a schedule A request and included a stupid mistake which could have basically resulted in me getting cancelled (thankfully it didn't) so triple, quadruple check and get someone you trust to check it all again for you! It's by far most important you get this RIGHT than get it done quickly, you have time to get it done right!

And finally, move quickly, the quicker you start the more room for error you have. You're presumably going to need police checks from everywhere you've lived 6+ months... that can take time depending on where you get them from. While you're waiting for those police checks you can be double and triple checking all your documents and applications!

Good luck!
