Hi
I got a research training offer from US university for two years. I got all the forms to get appointment from US embassy. But I am in the process of renewing my study permit in Canada. Now I am on Implied status. The US research institute gave me deadline to start research on 21st October 2019. If I apply US Visa now, then only I will be able to go to the research center in time. I am in the confusion.

Can I apply US J1 Visa while I am on Implied status?

Do I need to wait until I get study permit which will take another 25 to 30 days?

Any help would be appreciated.

Krishna.

This is a US immigration question and you should post it to a US immigration forum.

No issues doing this from the Canadian side. Whether the US will be OK with this is a separate question.

My question is

am I eligible to apply for other country Visa while I am on Implied status?

Again, there are no issues from a Canadian immigration perspective. However the US may require you to hold a valid visa at the time you apply and the US may not accept implied status. That's why I'm recommending you post to a US immigration forum.
