:)Hello Seniors,

I did my landing 2 weeks ago and awaiting for my PR card which is going to take another 2 months as current time is 76 days.

I have plans to travel to UK in August and need to apply for UK visitor visa next week. Just to let you know, I went to UK last year as well.

I have prepared all my documents except one thing, I dont have a valid travel document.

My question is, Can I apply for the UK visa with the confirmation of Permanent Residence document? I tried contacting the British Embassy but failed as there phone service is all automated and no one responses back.

Has anyone been in a similar situation before? Please advise!

Thank you in advance!

Cheers.

Your travel document is your passport. You cannot apply for your visa, let alone travel to UK without one. And we're quite positive that you have one. :p
The UK border agency/immigration website should have details on the necessary documents that you're required to submit for a visitor visa.
However, I'd think it's the same for nearly every country, proof of funds, proof that you're going to leave the country (your CoPR should suffice), and most definitely a passport (aka travel document).

Yes i do have my passport. But like you all know I can only enter Canada by Car with the CoPR document as i dont have my PR card. Will the UK agency make a problem on this? Like, will they tell me that you dont have a valid visa to enter Canada?

I don't think UK Immigration will know if COPR is a valid visa (or visa equivalent) or not. It's really not in their jurisdiction to determine that. All they care is that you leave the country and don't stay back in the UK. For example, you have your passport so once you're done with your travel, ideally for them you should return to India/or just leave the UK.
In short, if they have to track you down and kick you out, they can because you have a valid Indian passport (which means they can send you back to India). So their problem is solved.

As for entering Canada with COPR from UK, you will have to confirm that with CIC and CBSA.

If you aren't from a visa exempt country you will not be able to fly from the uk to canada with the copr. You would need to apply for a travel document desperately to enter canada without the card.

I'm assuming the applicant's passport (aka travel document) has been stamped with the landed immigrant status visa. I would think this should suffice for the applicant to return to Canada. After all, s/he is now a PR.

Again, it's best you confirm this with CIC and/or CBSA.

Incorrect.

If you are from a country other than one that is visa exempt, the passport isn't enough, nor is the cope. You will require passport + pr card.

If you don't have the pr card you can apply for a travel document. The document + passport will get you into canada.

Unless you know for sure, it's better not to make assumptions.

Good luck with your trip.

I have a feeling you will get PR Card before your visit to UK.

Hi,

I am in a similar situation. Were you allowed to apply for the visitor visa with copr?
