Can i apply for PR if i have worked for 10 months @40 hrs/week?

hi All,

I am a manger in an organization and currently on an onshore assignment. i have 8 years of work experience in IT. as of now i am in Canada for the past 9 months working on full time basis. I have 2 questions. (more to come later)

1. Can i apply for a PR? someone told me that I need to complete a year of full time job before applying for express entry (1560 hrs @30 hrs/week). Since i officially work 40 hrs per week, does that mean that by above calculation i'll need approx 9-10 months of work experience before i apply as i'll reach the 1560 hrs earlier than a year@ 40 hrs/week. OR does it mean one calendar year and has no consideration of hrs worked per week (i.e whether it is 30 or 40)?

2. is it really necessary to go for a degree assessment? can i not apply without that. i am planning to atleast put my request in before i leave in another 2 months.

Based on your above queries, you can apply for Canada PR with this much experience. In order to add points for canada experience we can update later on in the Express Entry. To start with Canada PR, Wes assessment is necessary as it will also help in claiming points and its a mandatory procedure.

Why are you trying to make money from people? You CANNOT apply if you haven't worked for 52 weeks of full time work. Stop misguiding people.

Actually, they are right. The OP has 8 years of foreign work experience. They don't yet have 1 year of Canadian work experience.

sorry. I got confused. Looks like 52 weeks is a must for applying. is that the case? Also, just to add. Out of 8 years, i have 6 year 3 months in India and 1.9 months in Canada (i was here for a year back in Aug 2010-Aug 2011). Also, currently I am working in Canada.

For now, you are ineligible under CEC. But you might be eligible under FSW if you can score at least 67 on their grid.
