Hi,

My wife got skilled work permit visa. I'm planning to travel and work along with her in Quebec.

Could you please suggest in below options which is the best way.

1. Applying for Open Work Permit from my home country and travel once it is approved. But it will take nearly 3 months to complete the process.

2. Apply for Visitor visa and it will take 12 days to get it done and travel using it. I will apply for Open work permit once i reach Canada.

Please let me know if there are any problem with option 2

I can tell what we did and we were successful.
We came in 2017 when I got a job in Toronto. My wife applied for a TRV & I applied for a Work Permit. With the TRV, she was allowed to stay for 1 year, the same until when my visa was going to expire.

I applied for an extension in December 2017 and she applied for a OWP at the same time. In Jan 2018, we both got our WP - mine was closed and she got an open until 2019.

Thanks for the response. For applying TRV, we need a visitor visa in our passport before travelling to canada.

I read like for getting the visitor visa, we need a invitation letter from our dependent living in canada. Right?

A TRV is the same as a visitor visa which allows you to enter Canada (https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...ing-visitor-visa-temporary-resident-visa.html).

In our case, I wrote that she is accompanying me as I am moving to Canada in the LOE and it worked.

Ok, You wrote this explaination along with your wife visa's application.Am I Right?

Yes, I don't remember the exact wordings, but something similar.

Nowadays, In india, they are asking for NOC from current employer for applying canadian visitor visa. Did you faced similar situation?
No
