Hi,

As per CIC:

"To receive the CCTB, you must file an Income Tax and Benefit Return each year. If you have not been a resident of Canada long enough to file a return, you will need to complete a separate form to declare your world income.

You can get these forms and more information on the Canada Child Tax Benefit by calling the Canada Revenue Agency’s toll-free enquiry service at 1-800-387-1193 or by visiting the agency’s website".

I heard one parent must be working in Canada in order to be eligible for the benefit.

Have some shame, You havent done any contribution to Canada yet and inquiring about a benefit.
These are the people who has done damage to Canada's economy. Many many people staying there, not working or working very less, not paying TAX and biting Canada.

Come On, earn and feed your kids by yourself.

No.You can not.I am living in Canada under WR since 2005.My son was born here on 2007.and we have child tax benefit almost 400$ per month..

One of my friend who came to Canada at the same time when we are with children do not have right for child tax because they are not born in Canada.

Stupid rules :o

I will not be ashamed bec once I started working in Canada we are both professionals (IT Mgr & Nurse) almost half of our salary will be going to the government & lucky me if I will get some child tax benefits once we declare our salary. Definitely we will work to have a good quality of life like we experienced in USA.

For the meantime since we are not working here in Canada and about to finish our work left in USA for the next 6 mos ..I am just asking if we are eligible to apply for child tax benefits.

Dont accuse & judge people of some negative comments...we spent 15 years of working & paying the governtment tax almost half of our salaries in helping the low income & homeless family of their benefits.

JNATHAN....Hope you get your Medical Request soon so you can contribute to improve the Canada's economy.

Canada is reeling from its citizens/PR's who dont pay taxes yet using all the social services. this is creating a blockage for the applicants' whose files are in process. Canada just cant withstand the benefit eaters who has not yet started contributing to Canada. you should try your heart and soul to live and raise kids by not taking any money from the Canadian government, that would be the assisting gesture towards Canada from you.

I hope you understood me.
