Dear

Im done a soft landing in toronto, im going to be here for 2 months, im collecting all receipts of purchases including transport tickets.

I will not be filing taxes this year since I have no residential or secondary ties to canada.

My question is, if i return after 1 year and then establish permanent ties, and then decide to file taxes then can i claim the GST/HST as tax credit in my return from the previous year ?
For example its 2016 now, i will return in tax year 2017 so when i file returns for 2017 can i take GST credit for the previous year or it has to be for the year that im filing taxes ?

Is this tax credit only available for THE FIRST TIME U FILE TAXES in canada as a new immigrant ? OR

THE TIME U FILE TAXES IN UR FIRST YEAR OF LANDING ?

i guess a tax consultant can help in this regard, but if anyone has any advice, will be obliged

Thanks

The GST credit is available to low income individuals and will be assessed automatically once you file your taxes. You don't apply for it or do anything other than file your taxes in the normal manner. (http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/bnfts/gsthst/fq_pymnts-eng.html#q7)
