Dear
Im done a soft landing in toronto, im going to be here for 2 months, im collecting all receipts of purchases including transport tickets.
I will not be filing taxes this year since I have no residential or secondary ties to canada.
My question is, if i return after 1 year and then establish permanent ties, and then decide to file taxes then can i claim the GST/HST as tax credit in my return from the previous year ?
For example its 2016 now, i will return in tax year 2017 so when i file returns for 2017 can i take GST credit for the previous year or it has to be for the year that im filing taxes ?
Is this tax credit only available for THE FIRST TIME U FILE TAXES in canada as a new immigrant ? OR
THE TIME U FILE TAXES IN UR FIRST YEAR OF LANDING ?
i guess a tax consultant can help in this regard, but if anyone has any advice, will be obliged
Thanks
