Can forms be started and saved without submitting or starting time countdown?

My Canadian husband and I (USA) would like to start filling out the forms online for Outland Spousal Sponsorship. But we might take 4 to 6 months to gather everything and complete the forms before sending. Can we start the forms without triggering an assigned number to us or a countdown deadline to submit everything and also go back to the forms at a later date and make changes? Basically, we want to be able to practice filling out the forms before we do the real submission.

You can fill them out as many times as you'd like.
I first downloaded the forms 2 years before we applied.

The only thingto keep in mind is to check the forms again before you send them. CIC sometimes puts out an updated version of the form, and if you send in your application with an outdated form, they will return it to you. Just ask all the August applicants who just got their sponsor approval now, long after most September and October applicants.
