Hi All,

Just wondering if for any reason, principal applicant cannot give landing in Canada with the family for the first time, can dependant do on their own?. Can anyone cite documented rule from Canadian Immigration in this regards, just to be sure. Thanks in advance.

The principal applicant need to land first or together with the accompanying family members. If the PA did land alone, the dependents can land at any date before the expiry date of their visa.

dependants can't go first or they will be returned..

The answers you have gotten are correct. The PA must either land before the family or along with the family.

You wanted an official link. Here it is:

17. Procedure: Issuing visas

When all requirements are met, a visa may be issued.
Attach counselling information as appropriate.
Explain in writing that all family members must travel with the principal applicant, or follow before
the expiry date on their visas. Family members, who arrive in Canada before the principal
applicant, will not become permanent residents.

Sounds like a Family Sponsorship application. If so, you're posting in the wrong section of the forum.

However to answer your question, both of your parents have to pass the medical in order for the application to be approved. The dependents will not be approved separately.

Can dependents only enter into Canada without the principal applicant? For example, if I want to enter earlier into Canada without my husband and wait for him inside the Canada to do the landing together when he arrives. Is this possible?

No - they can't. Dependents either land WITH the principal applicant or AFTER the principal applicant. They cannot land before.

I don't want to land in Canada. I just want to enter into Canada. In other words, I just want to pass the passport control gate. Is it possible to do it with the landing visa?

Do you have a valid TRV or eTA (if you are visa exempt)?

In that case you can't enter Canada unless you land and use your COPR. However to land and use your COPR, the primary applicant must either have already landed or be landing along with you.

You are an optimist :) In simple terms no.
