Can anyone explain?

Hi All
I applied for citizenship in August 2009 and got the test in November 2010.
My brother applied in October 2009 (2 months after me because he came to Canada after me). We live in the same building and share almost everything. However, he was invited for the test on January 2011 and surprisingly had the ceremony and citizenship certificate the same day. Can anyone explain why: 1. he did test and oath same day and this does not happen with me?
2. why his file was processed faster than me although he applied after me?

Nobody can tell you exactly how fast you will be processed and why other people are processed faster than yours. My own citizenship application took 2 and a half years. I never had any update from immigration and I never enquired because I was in no hurry. They never asked for any additional documents from me. When I did the oath, I asked other people out of curiousity how long they had waited and most said 1 year. Now the average processing time is a bit more than a year.

Thanks Leon, I was just expecting that they process the files the same way but it turned out that they have their own way of processing that we can not know or explain. Just to add to the irony the e-cas of my brother shows (in process) and the most recent update is that his file was transfered to Montreal.

e-cas can be messed up sometimes. My file was in process on e-cas the whole time. It was listed as transferred to local office the same day I got my letter from the local office to appear for the exam so for them to write me a letter, they can not have only gotten it that day.

my citizenship application has been sitting idle for more than 2 yrs now. I dont know how to put an enquiry nor whom to contact?

i sent in my appln nov 2008. got acknowledgement in april 2009 and that it has started processing may 2009. No word after that.

What must I do to get my file back on track??? Does influence help?

Any advice in this regard will be very helpful.

You can try the call centre and see if they can tell you anything. Maybe they can't. You could also go and talk with your MP and try to push. Still, my application took that long. I didn't do anything and it still moved so yours may be the same.
