I am planning to do PR application via Canadian Experience Class in October 2020. I have used the official CRS tool for point calculation and I got 466 (therefore I think I should be alright). In order to confirm I got things correctly, I would feel really appreciated if you could check with me with my following information:

One question in my mind is for number 1 and 2 below, if I have different NOC codes for these two jobs, is it OK? They are all NOC A-type jobs though.

  1. I worked in Canada as a Postdoctoral Fellow researcher in Canadian university for 2 years (2017-2019)

  2. I worked outside Canada as a chemist for 1 year (2019-2020)

  3. My age in Oct 2020 will be 38.

  4. Not married.

  5. PhD degree, outside Canada.

  6. IELTS: speaking: 6.5, listening: 7.5, reading 9.0, writing: 8.0

  7. No other points can be added.
My understanding about Express Entry is that my score being 466 will likely be higher than the cutoff score and hence will get ITA soon. Then I have 2-3 months to prepare all the required documents (like police certificate, medical check, educational credential verification etc). After that, I will wait for 4-6 months till the PR is issued.

Is my understanding correct???

if you're asking about deadlines, it's 60 days to submit documents and ten anywhere from two months to a year.

Different NOCs are ok.
2 months to collect documents.
Time for the processing is very variable.

Many thanks for your guys help.

But my key question is whether my scenario is OK for PR application (i.e. is my 466 score valid???)

Sorry for asking this question, you know, PR application is a big project. I won't tolerate a single mistake...….

Just a point to factor in your plans...You are assuming Express Entry will be the same in 2020. Canada is about to have an election and a potential new government might decide to drastically change Express Entry or reduce the number of invites. Just take a look at what Quebec govt has done recently.

This information is really helpful. It really reminds me.

That said, I expect the Express Entry system is unlikely to be changed due to its many advantage over the old system (first-come first served).

However, in a worse scenario, I expect the number of ITA be probably a big cut, or some occupations which Canada has a high demand may receive additional points (just like Canada international students having more points by studying here compared with other countries). That said, I will need a higher score, say, 480, just in case.
