Hi! Did you know that you may apply for study-permit and study full-time while working as a live-in caregiver? Also as a closed work permit holder you can pay canadian fees, not international. All public institutions (at least in Ontario) have an international premium exemption list. I am also a former live-in caregiver and that's what I did and now I am studying full-time and paying what Canadians pay here. The registrar's office staff are not willing to give you this information because they want people to pay international fees, but if you request information about exemption eligibility or just try to look it up on internet and bring it with you to the college/university, they cannot deny you. Also your family members (spouse, children) if they have a study permit are eligible to pay canadian fees. I wish I knew all this before when I just came to Canada, but I want to share with you so you don't waste time and can start studying before you finish your program. Good luck! By the way, I also took some courses part-time last year, because I thought I couldn't study more that six months and full-time was so expensive, however it's even cheaper to study full-time because you pay one amount for all classes in the semester and not each course.
