Can a temporary work permit holder take a Physiotherapy Exam? BCGUY..Pls Help

Hi,

I have a temporary work permit and currently working as a receptionist in a hotel in edmonton. I am a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Therapy graduate in the Philippines.

1. Can I take an exam for Physiotherapist here?
2. Can I work as a Physiotherapist Aid or technician?
3. Can I take a refresher course for Physiotherapy here while on work permit? If not, how can I possibly take a refresher course or studies?

I cant answer for Alberta because each Province has different regulations,For example A Canadian Nurse Educated and Licensed in Alberta cannot work in BC without getting a BC license.Paging the Rich Albertans Leon????Anybody???

Yeah, licensing is funny. I know a couple who are an RN and an LPN from Ontario and moved to AB. The guy who is an RN got his license right away, just a formality. The woman, the LPN had to gather her documents and present them to the association of LPN's or something and it was basically up to them to say yes or no but they did not give her any problems.

As for if somebody can do this on a temporary work permit, the test, I don't see why not. Working as a physiotherapist aid, as long as you get another LMO and a work permit issued for that position, no problem. Courses for people on work permit I believe should be like other courses you don't need a student visa for, that is shorter than 6 months. Call CIC and clarify if you want to be sure. If you want to take a longer course, you would have to apply for a student visa.

-As long as you have the admission letter and funding to continue your program you can apply for study permit to CIC. Check CIC's website. I guess they have starte a new facility to apply for study permit through online.
-No, you do not need to go out to apply for study permit, if you are already in Canada.
