Hi
I received my PR through my husband. Its been only 6 months for my PR. Now i want to sponsor my parents from india. I came to canada as a student and has been working from 2017. I have confusion that does the 5 year sponsorship bar has anything to do with this. Am i eligible to sponsor my own parents as I already been sponsor by my husband? Or do I have to wait for 5 years to sponsor my parents.

plz help

The 5 year sponsorship bar only applies if you break up with your husband and want to sponsor a new partner. It does not apply to parent sponsorship.

Yes, you can certainly enter the parent sponsorship lottery (once it opens) and apply to sponsor your parents if you are selected (and assuming you meet the income requirements for the last three years). You do not have to wait 5 years.

Don't fill out any forms. The program hasn't even opened yet for selection.

You need to wait for the program to open and hope you are selected out of the pool. Only after you are selected out of the pool should you fill out any forms.

The forms change frequently.

This is a common form, as mentioned it does not matter for what you are doing.

The only thing you should be looking at at this time is the income requirements to make sure that you would qualify (count all family members including children + your two parents. You need to have the minimum income for that number for 3 years (it is possible that when it opens those requirements are different though but at least it will give you an idea).

The process is a lottery, the last one had about a 6% chance of being selected if I recall properly (even if it is slightly higher the point is, it is really low). Many people wait years hoping to be selected, you may get lucky but I would not start filling/looking at forms until you get selected as you'll have enough time to apply once selected. It is the best way to get really demoralized if you don't get selected a few years in a row (very real possibility).

One more thing
As being a sponsor I have to show my Notice of accessement for three consecutive years. My husband will co sign the application. Do i have to show both of us me and my husband’s NOA to meet the income requirement. (Example for year 2020 requirement is 60000. Dollars and my income is 50000 and my husbands Notice of accessment showing 20000)?

Yes - both you and your husband must include your NOAs.

No, but you and your husband must be physically living in Canada and meet the income requirement consecutive 3 years before the application.

They will still check if your combined income meets the minimum income requirement until your parents formally became permanent residents.

So if you think you can meet the requirement, then you don't have to be working.
