Hi, I am a protected person in Canada and want to apply for PR. I live in BC and graduated from a university and major that qualifies for BC International Post-Graduate (IPG) program (https://www.welcomebc.ca/Immigrate-to-B-C/About-The-BC-PNP).
I am wondering if can I apply for PR under this program?

The guideline noted that:
The BC PNP will not nominate you if you:
• are in Canada and are out of status;
o if your status has expired, and you cannot demonstrate that you have applied for restoration of status within the 90-day eligibility period, you will be considered out of status;
• are working in Canada without authorization;
• have an unresolved refugee claim in Canada; or
• are under a removal order in or outside of Canada, or require an Authorization to Return to Canada.

Thanks

You need to proceed with your refugee application and obtain PR through that process. Unfortunately you cannot apply through PNP.

If you are a protected person you can already apply for PR and get a WP so why do you want to apply for BC PNP. Do you mean you are an asylum claimant?

Hi, because of the long refugee PR processing time. It takes 2 years while the BC PNP is faster :(

Unfortunately it's not an option. You have to stick with the refugee program.
