Hi All,

I am a PR and my wife is Canadian citizen. My sister is 2months pregnant (she lives outside Canada) and I want the baby delivered here in Canada. Does the Canada Immigration issue visa specifically for a woman to come to Canada and deliver her baby. If yes, what are the procedures I need to follow or things I need to do. Does the child have automatic citizen status. Please any one with this experience should give me more information. Thank you so much for your help!

No - Visas are not issued specifically to deliver a baby in Canada. Your sister would have to apply for a regular visit visa (note: she will have to pay for all of the hospital expenses out of pocket).

Yes - If the child is born in Canada, it will automatically be a citizen.

I doubt it, but even if your sister could get here, the question that comes up is the cost of the birth.
She would have no medical coverage in Canada and is unlikely to get medical insurance to cover the birth.
Paying for the medical costs would be very expensive.

Besides they'll look at this very suspiciously, the first question and obvious would be why do you want to deliver your baby in Canada on a visitors visa?
Also this would create a sub culture where people come here on visitors visa give birth, take baby back with them and when they think its time they'll send the kid to Canada cause they are Canadian citizens or have their kids sponsor them after 18

I had a friend of mine who wanted to do the same thing deliver her baby in Canada, however when she went to get the visa it was showing on her, and the immegration officer gave her a doctor's details to get a pregnancy test done, as they are a bit strict with issuing visa to visitors who they think will deliver in Canada for the same resaons newtone has mentioned. And when i first went to get the visit visa the first question the officer asked me was if I was pregnant or was planning on getting pregnant soon as this determines the validity of the visa they will issue her, so an advice would be try and hide her pregnancy till she gets the visa, then once she gets there she can deliver there safely, it would cost money but getting the passport for her baby would be the best thing she could ever do to at least have an alternative plan for baby once grown. Good luck :)

And how do you suggest she does that? Cover her stomach ?? Worst advice ever....

And it's because of ppl like vyktor and his/her sister why CIC is so freaking hard on issuing visa for the rest.

This is consider fraud in my eyes and this post should be locked!

To all who shred their opinions you are all free to voice them, however it would b considered fraud if they ask her if she is pregnant & she says no. And about CIC being hard issuing other people visas that is probably due to them not meeting their required criteria so don't put the blame on others.

There is a reason that Canada does not issue a visa for people to "arrive" and give birth. Canada does not want it happening (for very obvious reasons).
What would you call it if she does not disclose the pregnancy and arrives in Canada? Doing this could mean she faces a ban from entering canada due to misrepresentation.
Is it acceptable that people cheat the system?

Having a visa doesn't guarantee someone will automatically be allowed in Canada, any hidden fact or information that might be disclosed at a later date, namely date of arrival, could lead to inadmissibility status.

Weii cheating the system would be the case if giving any wrong information if requested, but I don't understand why will a person volunteer any information that isn't asked for.
And yes having a visa does not grant admission into the country, as the imigration officer has the final call. and what I said openly happens all the time in many places especially the United States, and there is no fraud about it as long as people respect the rules and law of the country and actually go there with enough money to pay for all their expences and not be a liability on their health system and tax payers.

And let me ask those people who said it's fraud or not acceptable, what do you call people who borrow money from friends, deposit it into their bank accounts and send the bank statements to CIC in order to qualify for visas, after which the withdraw the money and give it back to whom ever they took it from, isn't that considered FRAUD!!!!!!!!!!! ::) ??? :D

That is called "misrepresentation", which you can get banned for.

even a visitor/tourists visa will undergo a medical exam.... so it's impossible!
