Can a live-in Caregiver seek other occupations??

I am having no luck finding another family the Gods are against me. I am running out of time. One month left in Canada! Can I look for other jobs besides caregiving? What if I wanted to change my visa to a student visa? Will I be allowed to work on that? Will I need a lot of money for a student visa? What is the criteria? I am just trying to look at all my options , since I am panicking about time running out thank you so much guys!

What province are you in? Lots of families looking for nannies in BC. Work thru agencies and let them find an employer for you. Up to when is your WP? (sorry just plain lazy to go back to your posts)

To apply for a student visa, you first need to apply and be accepted by a school. Only then can you apply for a student visa. Financially, you must be able to show a bank account balance with first year tuition (note that foreign students pay substantially higher rates than domestic student) + $10,000 living expenses for the first year. You must also be able to prove that you have strong ties to your home country and plan to return once your studies have been completed (this part might be difficult for you given you are already in Canada). I don't know how much time you have left in Canada, but the process of applying to a school and getting a study visa approved takes several months (rather than just a few weeks). So if you only have a few weeks left, I don't think a student visa is a viable option.

Whether you can work on a student visa will depend on what kind of school you attend. You are now allowed to work if you are attending many/most private schools. So if working is important, you would want to apply to a public school.

You can work on campus (at the university or college) right away. However there are very few of these jobs available so you should assume you won't get one of these. Once you have completed six months of study, you can then apply to work off campus. The off campus work permit allows you to work a maximum of 20 hours per week. Since students typically get minimum wage jobs, the amount of money you can make using an off campus work permit usually isn't enough to cover your living expenses. This is why CIC demands that you already have the full first year tuition amount plus an additional $10K in your bank account before you apply.
