Hello,
I am a pt in Turkey and i have my master degree. I have more than 12 years of experience as a pt. I have a student visa which allows me to work while studying. I will be in vancouver to study kinesiology in Langara College on september, and I am planning to start my equivalency process. I read some articles state that a foreign trained pt could work as a pta in Canada. Is that true? Can i work as a pta while my credentialing process continues?

Have you received a permit? A kinesiology degree shouldn’t be approved since you should already have covered a lot of the information and the course will not lead to career advancement.

Yes i have a permit. Because of kinesiology diploma program. Should i apply for some other program to support my physiotherapy edıcation? Since i have a master degree i thought that it would be enough and i have chosen kinesiology to improve my chance to find a job in a different profession.

Most kinesiology graduates end up needing further education or become person trainers or maybe a community sports coordinator.

Actually i chose kinesiology to get a work permit. And i found that there is an organization like kinesiologist Association and i might combine my physiotherapy bachelor and master degree with kinesiology diploma to be a bachelor degree holder kinesiology. There are many job offee in indeed for kiensiologist however my first priority to be a registered pt. Do you contiue to work as a pta or could you complete your pt acredi

Yes you can work as PTA. There is no registration of PTAs and you may be able to get a job based on your backhome work experience

The kinesiology will not really be adding a ton of new skills. That is why I am surprised you got approved. There is a demand for physiotherapists in Canada so perhaps that is why you were approved. Obviously you need to study for your PGD but your future employment in Canada will likely be based on your physiotherapy degree and not the kinesiology diploma. Obviously dependent on you pass the licensing.
