can 5 semester course is enough for 3 year PGWP

Hi guys. I have applied for a diploma which is 5 semesters only. Is that enough to apply for a 3-year PGWP?

What is the duration written on offer letter? 1 year, 1.5 or 2 years?

Doesn't matter how many semesters. VO will look at the duration written on your offer/completion letter. Your course may be qualified for 3 years PGWP after completion.

But my offer letter just stated minimum 1 year & maximum 5 years which does not refer to my program at all. It's a Faculty of Graduate Studies general requirement for all programs in the university.

And I was recently told by the University that the completion letter will not mention the program length. But I guess I will have to anyway fill in the program length when applying for PGWP.

But when applying for study permit initially I didn't know that the program is for minimum 2 years & mistakenly wrote 1 year. I'll apply for extension of study permit.

In this case, will I be eligible for a 3 year permit after graduation please? I need this guidance & advice now especially due to the uncertainty around nowadays. It's so stressful. Will they forgive my mistake of entering 1 year while initially applying for the study permit?

Masters/M.Phil programs are treated differently. Masters/M.Phil programs mostly qualifies for 3 years PGWP. Rules are different for certificate and diplomas though.

the basis for PGWP will not be about the offer letter.
after you completed your program the school will provide you notice of graduation (NOG) stating like the official length of the program
this NOG will be submitted when you apply for PGWP.
IRCC will assess this NOG and will grant you PGWP accordingly.

I guess this NOG should make the duration clear at that time.
