I am an int’l student. My 17 years old son just got here in CA with a study permit as well.
His study permit does not indicate any conditions except that he is my dependent and his study permit has the same validity as mine.

In this case, can he work part-time also?

Does your study permit show a condition that you can work 20hrs ?

My study permit has that condition.
But for my son’s study permit, it does not have that condition.

Is he studying at the high school level? If so, he is not entitled to work.

oh, that's sad. he wants to work... thank you.

Unfortunately whether he wants to work or not is irrelevant. International students are not entitled to work at the secondary school level. He will have to wait until he has started post secondary studies (i.e. college / university) before he will be entiteld to work.

oh... thank you for clarifying that... now it's clear to me..
