Calling CIC after application takes more than processing time

I applied for my study permit extension which I need urgently for a trip in two weeks. The processing time online is 33 days and it has been over 48 days since I applied. Someone applied one day after me and he received his approval today. Actually my application still states that haven’t started reviewing my application.

I have already sent the contact form 9 days ago inquiring about my application as it is pst due the processing time. I haven’t received a response. I need my permit by next week so I can travel, which means the approval should come up this week the latest. Would calling the CIC help? Anyone had a similar situation?

I don't think they would delay arbitrarily just because you are calling. I only started calling then once my application passed 35 days. Now I call every other day.
