Hi All,

I got a letter Etobicoke-CIC-APR <Etobicoke-CIC-APR@cic.gc.ca> , stating that both myself (primary applicant) and my spouse are requested to appear at the IRCC Etobicoke Office this Friday, June 30th.

The e-mail has an attachment asking me to bring a checklist of items (all originals), but mostly my id proofs, proof of residency and marriage certificate. There is no request for any additional document or any highlighted area that they found doubtful. I submitted my application on Mar 4th and in the profile, my background check shows "In progress" status. Do I have any reason to worry? or is there anything in particular I should be expecting?
Also , some of the documents they have requested, I have already submitted during my online application submission.

My nerves are super jumpy now as it seems that in my circle , I am the first one to be called for an interview. My NOC# 2171. Please help advise or share your experience if any one had a similar experience.

Thanks,
Avishek

I did read on this forum few days ago that somebody had an interview at the same location. He posted that everything went well, and it seemed only a random selection. Please do not worry:)

Thanks sandra02, yes I saw that as well and read the post / replies from @nngafook .

It sounded more like a random selection as you mentioned and re-validate the originals along with spouse relationship. Still I feel a bit unnerved as its a little rare scenario. I am keeping my fingers crossed based on the experience he had and looking forward to appear with a positive frame of mind.

....and even if not a random selection (though I believe with previous responses that it's jut a normal random selection), it's just to verify one or two information. As long as you don't have any skeleton in your 'wardrobe' then you are fine :).

Thanks @philus . Yes I don't have anything to hide. All my past employment records and current one is from known organisations and have original documents to substantiate those. Also I have majority of the originals that they have asked for to prove out my Canada residency.

I called in the help desk, and they also mentioned that my application looks complete and they don't see any issue with the file and didn't they ask to submit any additional documents. Just because it looks like the "interview schedule" is somewhat a rare scenario - makes me a little unnerved. Also I am close to 4 months now from the time I submitted my online application and was wondering if its stuck for some reason/ verification.

Hi,

I appeared for the interview on June 30. It went well according to the vibes I could feel after getting out from the office. The Visa Officer was nice and polite.

As soon as I entered the room, she told me and my wife that there was nothing to worry and it was a random quality check that they were doing and probably my profile got picked.

She went through her checklist and all the original documents that she had asked me to bring. Also she asked us a few general questions during her scrutiny - what are the things that I do actually in my job? do I like it? our year of marriage and my wife's graduation year? My wife knows elementary French and she had a few words of conversation with her.

She kept with her some additional documents which were not part of the package, mainly the latest ones - my lease info from the rental property, my latest bank statements and my spouse's and mine joint health insurance through my company. The entire process took an hour as she actually went through a few things in details, dates and documents, but overall I had not provided anything forged so all matched.

Before leaving she said that since your application is already close to 4 months, you should see something in next couple of weeks - she told a few more formalities left and she would pass it to the next level. My background check and CRC is cleared and hence asked me to keep an eye on the emails.

However no Final decision made yet. Though I am still hoping for the best but the delay and the interview process makes me a little worried.

Does anyone have an idea that what to expect next? or the ETA from the date of interview to the next new?

Thanks.

Timeline AOR - July 4, Medical Aug 22, BG changed - Sep 15, Interview at Etobicoke - Oct 5. CEC Inland.
Our case was selected for quality checks, the interview went for 15-20 minutes and we produced all our original documents and submitted photo copies to the officer.
