Hello,

I am planning to come to Calgary, Alberta for my landing.
Where do you think is the best place to live. Hopefully market and the official services are close by.....
My plan is to land and spend 2 weeks in Calgary getting my PR, SIN and Drivers license sorted and then head back to my home country. Will be getting back after a few years when I get an opportunity.
Thanks.

Since you are only staying of 2 weeks, then a hotel is probably the best place.

You may try
www.airbnb.ca

You will not be able to sort out Driver's license in 2 weeks. You cannot take even the initial computer based knowledge test if you dont provide address proof with your name such as a lease agreement / utility bill.

Airbnb.ca is the best way to go , i did the same thing last month when i landed from New York.

Find a house or APT near to shopping center and public transit. i got mine one near to Uof C , very convenient.

at first it wont take just 2 weeks to get your PR, SIN and drivers license. it may take 4-12 weeks to get everything

PR card: 4-12 weeks depending on the office work load

driver license:
learner driver license: 2 weeks after you pass the written test ( you cannot directly get a full drivers license without getting a learner/class 7)
while you apply for learner/class7 you submit your home drivers license and they may take 2-3 weeks to add your experience
once your driving experience is added you can take your road test for class 5 and get a full drivers licence , SO additional 2-3 weeks for this process, if you fail the road test add few more days for that.
Important:Your home driver license will not be returned back to you as in Alberta you cannot keep 2 drivers license. so to get a drivers license you have to submit your old drivers license.

SIN number: it takes few hours if you have all your documentation with you.
Health card: about 2 weeks to get your health cards posted to your address

SO concluding in reality on ground it is not a 2 week process for everything and at the top you will be needing a proof of address to get everything ( your own house or atleast a address of your relative etc where you are staying) a commercial address such as hotels wont work for everything.
so best is to find a short term renting house/basement/apartment for 3,4 months, have a proper proof of resident address, complete everything and then move/plan what ever you want todo.

hope it helps
