HI BZ mom,

I'm a Filipino too. We live in SE at New Brighton. It's a new community and my cousin and her family are my neighbors. We just arrived here from California just last Aug. 19th. Luckily, my hubby and I found work already and started working this week. I met a lot of Filipinos already at a Pinoy party last weekend.

Regards,

Viper

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this group. I hope someone could help us in our current dilemma. I will really really appreciate your help!

My husband and I are landed immigrants who are currently residing in Chicago, IL. We landed in Vancouver last June 30, 2011 and only stayed there for 4 days and just applied for SIN and PR Card and nothing else. We then came back to Chicago, IL. Now, we are planning to move to Alberta in a month or so. However, I actually have some questions to which we would really appreciate if you could shed some light:

(1) Since we initially landed in Vancouver, are we considered "moving from another province" or "moving from outside Canada"? I understand that rules differ between these two.
(2) I am currently 11 weeks pregnant. Will this prevent me from applying and getting my health card processed?
(3) I read that for someone who's moving from outside Canada, the coverage starts from the day we arrived. What if we apply for the health card on day 1 and for example, one of us gets hospitalized in day 3... what document will we provide in the hospital so that we get insurance coverage with our hospital bills? I understand that it takes time before the health card arrives. How does the billing in Alberta work? Do you have to pay upon clinic visit/hospital discharge or do you wait for your bill?
(4) As you know, we will be moving to Alberta and will look for jobs for the first few days. How much will be the premium if my husband and I have no jobs? When will we start paying the premiums?

Will really appreciate your help with these questions. We have looked everywhere and couldn't find answers to any of these.

I only know answer to oneq only,
Alberta is the province where medical is ensured from the day 1 u land in there.
rest all provinces have 3+ months waiting for medical insurance to commence.

hope this will help.
I have been in alberta for 2 months, I landed in Edmonton.
then after 2 months I cae back to India.

U do not need transit visa while transiting throgh UK or Germany.
On my way to Canada I transited through London Heathrow,
and while coming back through frankfurt (Germany).

Yes u can transit through toronto also, but then u have to complete ur landing formalities at Toronto.

I hope this will help.
