Calgary and Saskatoon which is better to settle

Hi,
I got my COPR recently in which my city of destination is Calgary. But I wish to land & settle in Toronto. I have already worked in Calgary & even have a job offer letter unsupported by LMIA in Calgary which I submitted while applying for PR. Please let know if I land in Toronto now will it create a problem for me.

Hi,

I have also received nomination from Saskatchewan and AOR in Feb. So, I and my spouse are hoping to move to Saskatchewan somewhere in June 2016.

My question is the same - Regina versus Saskatoon?

1. Cheaper - Rent, food, public transport? - Considering we wont have a car, etc.
2. Easily available jobs - Since we know nobody in the province, where can we easily get a job initially to have some cash inflow as quickly as possible
3. Which city s more beautiful, convenient, entertaining?

I prefer Saskatoon more than Regina. Regina is the capital but Saskatoon is the bigger city and is nicer in my opinion. The cost of living is the same for both cities. Overall i would recommend Saskatoon.

Car insurance depends on the type of the car, but it's not very expensive compared to rest of Canada because it's government insurance. If you have a driver license from back home make sure to bring it as it will help you avoid driving school and just do the road test. Since your kids are young i recommend buying a car for sure, public transportation is okay but it makes the trip much longer. You can buy a used car from a dealer or from Kijiji a website for buying and selling second hand things

Cost of living depends on where you rent, i recommend renting by 8 street E in Saskatoon, many grocery stores and service stores are near by. A family of four with two kids that young you probably could rent a two bedroom apartment which would be around $1500 a month. Make sure the landlord allows kids. You can use kijiji to search for places but NEVER give/send money online until you are there and in person and always obtain a receipt

Skguy you had been really helpful for the newcomers here. I am a foreign student and I am preparing my landing at Saskatoon in the mid of December. I will be studying in engineering building at Usask. As you have already mentioned that 8th street is far more better in terms of day to day living expenses and due to its proximity to the University. I was contemplating to rent a place near Sutherland because of my community aspect. Do you have any idea about this place?

Sutherland is a nice area with decent services near by and quick access to university. Not as convenient as 8th street as, if i remember correctly, there is one grocery store and it is kind of far from downtown. Other services (clinic, soccer centre, transit) are decent however

Would somebody tell me what may be some of the safer areas in Saskatoon to rent a 2 bedroom home/town-home? I am looking for good schools and family-friendly neighborhood.

I have a question regarding the weather, as we have never faced snow. So please suggest the month that will ok to land. Will it be Ok to land in between Oct to Feb month.
