Dear Rawdah, rawdah said:Pls list all the better schools in Calgary. I am looking to enroll my child in school in the coming days.
Google Fraser Institute Report cards...then click on Alberta, then Calgary.
that site was quite helpful! you then have to streamline it according to the type of school you want, public school, private or separate..within these differnt groups, you will still know the best... we wanted St Phillips school but we could not get it...the school is top 5 in calgary and No 1 among all the Sepearte schools. this school is free! and believe me its competing on the high top ladder with the private schools that you have to pay so much to get ytour child in.when our kids could not get enrolled in that school because of location, my spouse and I had to visit the school physically. when we got there.. we loved it! we saw the difference! its in the far north of SE, the good area ;D and its under restricted enrollment.
we got a warm reception and the secretary actually gave us a map of the area we need to live in to authomatically get our kids in there...we took the map home and started searching for apartments online..it was not favourable! the least we got was 2,500 CAD / month and the houses there were built in the early 70(s) . its an old community!
you cant believe that i tried enrolling my kids online in one of the top 3 schools (private) because i got a good referral from a friend, on the last page of the forms i was aasked to pay 200 CAD NON REFUNDABLE! per child! this is not a guarantee that they will get admission!
one more thing! save to buy your own home! new homes are better and less issues. 5 yrs guarantee! we visited a show room in REDSTONE and it was mounth watering... my kids are still asking about that new home till date. come to think of it...the rent you pay to your landlord is what he is using to pay down his mortgage..so why not pay down your own Mortgage!
