Hello...
You have good chances of getting in masters program in most universities in Canada. UofA and UofC both are good ( above avg univs). If you are going to fund your own studies you can apply to MENG programs in both univs.

The other option is MSc programs - funded by professors - you need to contact the professors for that. If they like your profile they will ask you to apply to the university.

I have heard that Calgary offers less funding....in civil especially...actually im certain about doing Msc...so should I contact any professor or just apply now and contact them later only to ask them about joining them on a project even without funding ?

I am not a Masters student so its not my area of expertise but as far as i know from my friends you need a professor to support your application first.. He/she must approve you and want you as a student in his/her research for Msc its a thesis based program just so you know.
