Hi,
While I was calculating my CRS points, was confused with 2 points on how CRS will take my points for Canada work exp#:

1. I was on Canada payroll and went to home country for vacation/work for < 3 months, will that timeframe will be calculated as Canada work exp#?

2. Also if my total work exp# is becoming 2.8 yrs, will that be calculated as 3 yrs (which is 56 points) or 2 yrs *which is 46 points)?

Thoughts?

2.8 years of work experience will get you points for 2 years of work experience (not 3).

You should exclude the three months you were working outside of Canada from your Canadian work experience calculation.

Hi Scylla, others: Please suggest if any way we can leverage <1 work exp# to get some points. As shared I spent 2.8 yrs in Canada, though we will get points for 2 yrs only, what about rest 0.8 months?
Is there a way?

There is no way unless you work another few months and complete 3 years.

With the cutoff scores so low, I don't even think you need that additional 10 points.

Thanks Tmys, my hovering around 396, so additional points will help me for future draws, not sure when we ever get low till 396?

In this case, you have to round down. You get credit for complete years, not partial.

Thanks Jes_ON, I understand the process Also another question is, when I calculate my CRS points for first language, I calculate (With a spouse or common-law partner) as 4 points for each in IELTS point, so if I get:

L- 6.5
R-8.0
W-7
S-7
my total score comes as 114, while CRS says 106!!

Not sure what I'm not understanding correctly?
