Yes. The passport stays with them until they finish everything and then issue the visa. The background check timeline varies by case, if you read the thread you'll find that some people finish in a few weeks while others take longer.

Oh I just that some people waited 11-22 months to get it back!!!!! Are they for real? Well our passport will definitely expire at their office. Why did they ask for it before they started background check??

Hello,

I received an email for a medical examination on Sept.5, 2018, in the same email they requested the passport along with 2 recent photos, height and eye colour. Two days later, I received an email with the pre-arrival services. Medical exam was completed Sept. 18, 2018 and last cic status shows "medical exam results received". DHL tracking shows they received the passport Sept.19, 2018, but still no update since. I've emailed them twice to have an update and no one has replied, they used to reply back by the next business day or two.

Can anyone please share their timeframe? How long after submitted your passport did you receive a request to pick-up?
Is it normal that I received the request for medical exam, pre-arrival services, and passport all at the same time?

Please help! Much appreciated!

Question for Cairo,
When i do get my PPR.. my wife is currently in Egypt but from Libya... does the VAC center in CAiro accept and process the VISA stamp on passport rather than she has to go to Tunis for that. Libyas VO office is Paris

i think this is some administrative error happened from them,i advice you to contact the visa office and tell them what happened BUT,definitely if they exclude one of the dependents, it will NOT be that way

Use DHL - my passport was delivered the next morning.
The address is in the email you received and DHL knows exactly what it is, they send to the embassy all the time.

Each case is different. They say up to 12 months but most are complete within 4-6 months. Did you receive the AOR?

ther'a any changement for Visa office in Cairo, Egypt
today i recieved the the AO2 as spous sponsorship, they said that the aplicant gonna be studied in Missisuga , not in cairo visa office is it normal.
