I did not know that you need to order the electronic file :(
does that mean that mine is going to take forever ?
Gosh I don't know ??? When I was ordering mine I followed instructions on a post I found here saying not to order the physical files for the reason I stated earlier (I didn't even know the difference at first).

I would highly recommend you contact them to clarify that you want the electronic files. They say you can contact them through email:

"If you have any questions or concerns, please contact CIC’s ATIP Division by e-mail."

I got their email address off of the email confirmation they sent when I ordered: atip-aiprp@cic.gc.ca

You probably got the same email.

I hope it works out.

I found a topic here to help with ordering your notes and interpreting them:

GUIDES TO GCMS: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/guides-to-gcms-t120758.0.html

Why to order electronic files not physical files: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/guides-to-gcms-t120758.0.html;msg2206853#msg2206853

Step by step video on how to request your notes online: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_E_dq_uLVo&feature=youtu.be

How do you order the notes on your file? Is this how you knew you had red flags? Do you think because they were looking at your file a lot, i.e adding info to it, etc that could be why you got moved along faster?

Thanks!
I knew about the red flags prior to sending our application. It's a common sense thing (IMO) our age and lack of big traditional party, they are going to question these things. I think being a conditional PR might have had something to do with our file being completed so fast. Also, my husband says he has a really smart wife. ;D and that I put our application together very well. I personally think that adding information helped.

With regards to the physical file actually causing the file to be placed back at the bottom of the pile. When you order the notes, they actually just access the information from the online database. The person and or company that you order them from has no interaction with your application at all.

As things are done on the file the VO (or one of the monkeys they have as sidekicks) enters the information into the computer system. The physical file that can be ordered is just a CD copy of the file and what is written on it to date.

The VO wouldn't even have a clue that you have ordered them, let alone place the file on the bottom of the stack because of it.

I think you just got super lucky, and hey, good for you guys! We are the same as you, age difference, religious difference, no big ceremony, etc, and we also have a super organised file (it was arranged by our lawyer). I looked, and we applied before you guys. I'm going to follow your tip, as I said before, and add new information to the file when it is relevant.

Thanks for all your postings, and information sharing - it helps to hear about other people's experiences, especially since we are all going through basically the same thing.

Hope you guys are enjoying a nice summer together! You give me hope!
Thanks again.

Yeah really, thanks! Not going to kick that gift horse in the mouth for sure! Luck or a well organized application or adding information or what have you, I am just happy that we are done and together.

I hope we were/are able to help others. I intend to stick around to try to do so in the future. Knowing how it was for myself, if there is even the slightest chance to let someone else know what steps to take in any part of the process I would like to help. Most things in life are easier once you realize your not alone in it, that there are others facing or who had faced the same thing gives anyone strength to endure it. Also, as you mentioned hope. We all can use a little extra of that.

Our summer is going really well. He is settling in well. He was offered a job, and is working. We are looking to buy another car (more fuel efficient one). He has been meeting my family a little at a time (don't want to over whelm him all at once, lol).

I hope you and everyone still waiting get the email you have been waiting for soon!

And if you come here 5 or 10 years from now you'll still find this forum active and people posting and waiting. Anyone who thinks moving to Canada will be a walk in the park is surely naive. Of course there are differences and culture shocks. That's why as sponsors we talk to our spouses about all the good and bad to prep them. And they understand the obstacles but they're willing to go through all this for the person they love.

We would appreciate more examples of your own personal experience rather than coming here to state the obvious. A lot of us have been patiently waiting and the frustration is building up.

i came here to help,if any one need help espcailly after landing and even make new friends .
i know how is every body fasturated now and waiting i had that feeling before and its not really pleasant .
i am not sure how the processing goes now , but for my application which was 2 years ago it took me 5 months total , and my spouse and i had a common problem which is the age diffrance and what so ever relevant .i think our immigration officer was good enough not to ask about these diffrances . we all know that only up to the officer thought and may be the mood. i hope all luck for you guys to have the same .

any way i think you are guys more expert now with the laws and process , but i can help a lot the new comers who are already here or who about to come , sometimes spouse needs a time for her/himslef and every one wants to land a job as soon or write exame . most of us here help each other with jobs or sources to write the exams , and we will welcome you all
thanks and good luck

Thank you, your help is greatly appreciated. The process has probably changed and I believe has become more complicated. Case officers are becoming more diligent with applications. My husband and I have been waiting 8 months so far, and no news, not even a hint of light at this endless tunnel.

Processing times only get longer. This is the worst part of the whole process. CIC's own policy states that Family Class applications should not take any more than 6 months to process.

That's true. But those who do get processed in 6 months are considered extremely lucky. No one seems to be monitoring those processing times and enforcing the 6 months policy. Lives are put on hold and they don't really care. With the strike, I wonder how long we'll have to keep waiting.

The times are being monitored but we have a government that doesn't care how long they take. They are interested only in reducing the cost to government though nothing comes back to the taxpayer.

Hi all,

I have a question, since this strike thing is going for ever and the government don't care what so ever about the family class and it's processing times for us. I am planning to apply for a visitor visa I know that I might be refused specially that I got I refused 4 times before, but I want to try my chances.

The question is that I used to apply directly at the visa office and now they say that (As of June 12, all temporary resident applications (visitor visa, study or work permit) or permanent resident travel document applications should be submitted either online or through the VAC.)

Does that means that I can't apply directly to the visa office and shall I apply online or through this VAC better?
Since I am not living in egypt any more shall I apply in the through the VAC where I am living or it doesn't make or online?

It's kinda confusing the Canadian embassy where I am living now says (we encourage you to apply online or through the VAC as applications submitted directly to the visa office will take longer to process).

Please advice...
Thanks in advance
