if you are comparing your case to others...remember each case is different and the following should be taken into consideration

mroliveland was processed fast since his wife is palestinian from Ghaza (as he previously stated.)

nubin's timeline is wrong ...application initially filed 07/07/2011 and Sudanese
case

Nubin's timeline
Those mistakes were corrected, so the timeline is accurate now. Glad the Ott-Pilot email was helpful!

Just one observation/question... I don't know if you can predict that all non-Egyptian couple applications will go faster/more smoothly than the Egyptian applications, especially based on one example alone (mroliveland). fadi_pal is also from Gaza, isn't he? And his application has been in processing for more than a year and a half... Even if fadi_pal's case is more complicated, it's bad statistics to make a generalization from one example : )

Also, is anyone still in touch with mrs kandil, liza90 or mish29? It would help a lot in calculating the average if we knew if/when they got their visas.

Thanks shamsuannahr, you are doing a great job (the least that I can do is to give you + points)
There is not enough information at all. That is why I have been asking if someone else can provide us with his/her input about others. Some members have knowledge of applicants like gigotheking...also if there are other sites/forum...etc please let us know about them

I believe fadi said something about background checks that are conduct on men...
Other important aspects of cases would be dependents...

Hey guys .. Well I had some updates and was so excited but then turned to be dissappointing . I had my second medical requested on June 10. 2012 and my status changed to in process and 2 weeks later medical has been received . From my searches people are waiting around 2 months to get the ppr . So I waited like a month an a half and sent an email to Cairo v/o and they responded with shocking news that my file is pending the RPRF which I paid upfront on dec. 2010 and after a week of calling and arguing and came out with nothing so I decided to pay it again to avoid any more problems and then will deal with the money issue later . So I just paid the RPRF last week and already sent the reciept to cpc-m and an email to the embassy .. So I hope nothing happened to my file and get some new good news soon .

Thanks @madatito2000. For some reason it won't let me reply to your personal message, or send a new personal message. It says I'm not allowed to send personal messages. Once again, thanks.

I do not know what do you mean by your fiance is a dual citizen! What is the other citizenship that she carries?
If you say she is on a student Visa in Uk. It means she is not carrying UK citizenship.
If you both have your wedding in Egypt as Egyptians with the sponsor (you a Canadian as well). You will need to just read the CIC site very carefully. As far as I know you will both sign the CIC agreement (that is all I can think of you need to get done) however things continously change. It does not really hurt to read it (CIC site) all very carefully.
Any marriage that is recognized by the State it is held is recognized by Canada. I have posted the optimized steps for documents needed in this thread and in another Egyptian thread in this forum. If you can find them repost them again to help others as well
Thanks for your reply. She's a Bahraini citizen as well (I think that's irrelevant in this case). We will be submitting our application through the London visa office as she currently resides in the UK. I have read the cic website very carefully, but I couldn't find anywhere where it states what dual citizens have to do.

In my case I was wondering if it would be ok to have the civil marriage as 2 Egyptian citizens and go through the process of certifying the marriage certificate and apply for sponsorship as a canadian citizen. Do you know if that would work, or would I have to do the civil marriage as a Canadian citizen?

Appreciate your thoughts.

I will try to look for the optimized steps that you mentioned and if I do find that post, I will repost here.

Thanks.

the easier one is being an Egyptian but on my opinion that u should make it as civil marriage as Canadian citizen believe its better and as i told u at the message you have both choice and ithink you can make both ways bcz here in Egypt and in this thread many people who have PR in Canada and get married as egyptian i know they must doit and it work out for them
you know if you they will treat your file same bcz the result for them that your canadian want to marry to non canadian and want to sponsor her and bring her to Canada under Family class

here are the optimized steps... Check them ...

I found this I have not heard about this step, take the marriage to Canadian Embassy to legalize it!

Supporting documents:
1) Identity and civil status documents. An English birth certificate issued from Health ministry (wazaret elsaha).
Kashf El Ahl (qeid eila) issued after changing status to married or you take Quesimah with you (fox says you do not have to do it after changing status in i.d. however I read here by fox:
canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t69666.0.html;msg742367#msg742367
)
. I understand it is issued from Sigil El medini then translated.

2) Travel documents and passports (Egyptian passport)

3) Proof of relationship to sponsor I do not know why this is necessary in case you are married!

4) Originals of police certificates and clearances . (Feish we tashbeh then translated.)

5) Proof of medical examination for the sponsored person and each of his or her dependants. The sponsored needs to fill appendix C in 3912e. Make an appointment with MDP, take Quasima and a copy of canadian passport (as fox says take photos)

Here is how I think we can optimize the process (specially if you do not live in Cairo or do not wish to go back and forth between same places):

1) Change the marital status in your ID from single to married and take it with marriage certificates to get something called al kaid al 3a'ely or kashf el ahl (family transcript) from al segel al madany then translate it .Your family means the sponsored, the sponsor and your children not your parents ok. If they do not mind giving you kaid al 3a'ely with Quasima then go ahead to gain time while getting your id changed

2) Take your arabic birth certificate to the minister of the health, they will give you an English birth certificate

3,4,5) For the "Kaed A'ely", Marriage Certificate and Police Certificate get them all translated from the Ministry of
Justice Let the police certifiate be your last paper as it expires

(in case you need other dosuments translated you can translate it at office called (Happy International Business center
a Khairt street
medan lazoughly
795 9902
795 9947
(please update numbers) they are approved by cic, ...)
6) Authenticate all from the ministry of foreign affairs.
Remember anything in arabic has to be taken for authentication before translation because you get translation of the stamps as well...

I will pick the shortest VO processing time that would be (I guess) United Kingdom
In regard to the civil marriage
A CIVIL MARRIAGE BETWEEN A CANADIAN MALE AND AN EGYPTIAN FEMALE CANNOT BE OBTAINED IN EGYPT
A CIVIL MARRIAGE BETWEEN A CANADIAN MALE AND AN EGYPTIAN FEMALE CANNOT BE OBTAINED IN EGYPT.

A civil marriage in Egypt is issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Justice. For a civil marriage in Egypt between a Canadian female and a non-Canadian male or between two Canadian citizens or between Canadian male and a non-Egyptian female:

The Canadian (s) must declare in writing in both languages (English and Arabic) that they have no legal matrimonial bond(s) still existing. This can be witnessed at the consular section of the Embassy of Canada in Cairo by submitting the affidavit and the original of the Canadian passport, for a fee of 50 Canadian dollars or the equivalent of 310.00 Egyptian pounds. The declaration must include specific information requested by the Egyptian authorities. A sample of the declaration including the information requested is available at the consular section of the Embassy of Canada in Cairo.
The consular section does not provide translation.

The affidavit should be legalized by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs;
Then to the Egyptian Ministry of Justice (located at Lazoughly square, Sayeda Zeinab,4th floor) where a civil marriage can be obtained.
In case of divorce, original of divorce document is requested to be submitted at the Egyptian Ministry of Justice.

For divorced female applicants, a three-month period must be observed between a divorce and contracting a new marriage according to the Egyptian Muslim law.

For the marriage to be accepted by Canadian authorities:

Take the marriage certificate to the Translation office of the Egyptian Ministry of Justice at 57 Ramses Street – Dar El Kaddaa El Aly.
Then take the translation to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for legalization;
The legalized translation of the marriage certificate should then be presented to the Consular Section of the Canadian Embassy for authentication; fee is 50 Canadian dollars or 310 EGP
Free to marry certificates
The Canadian Embassy cannot provide a certificate stating that a citizen is free to marry and that there is no impediment to such marriage. Canadian law neither requires nor provides the issuance of such certificates. The concerned parties may make a declaration to the Canadian Embassy that they are free to marry and a Consular Officer can witness the signing of their declaration
